This term's R.E. has focused on Saint Mary. We have brought icons, books and pictures to share on our Mary table.
We painted pictures about Mary and baby Jesus. We have made them into a 'talking book' on Littlebird tales.

Buddy time
On Fridays we love spending time with our Year 8 buddies. This week they helped us answer R.E. survey questions using the laptops and iPads. We showed them how to log onto our class page using our passwords.
5+ a day
November is 5+ a day month! We have been learning how eating five servings a day of fruits and vegetables helps us to keep strong and healthy. We know that one serving will fit into our hand. We count how many fruits we have in our lunch box, then add to find out how many vegetables we need for dinner!
Here we are saying our poem: I am Colin Carrot Man
You want to eat me when you can.
To clean your teeth straight after lunch
Just eat me with a crunch, crunch, crunch.

Sports day
An extra day of fun after Labour Weekend! We joined the school at Kaiapoi High to hold our annual athletics sports events. We started with tabloid activities such as gumboot throw, over and under, tunnel ball and shotput. After lunch we ran races in our age groups - sprints, sack races, ball-and-spoon, wheelbarrow and hopping races. Yay!

Painting pots for the fair
We loved contributing to the School/Parish Fair. We painted pots for flowers. First we painted the pots blue all over.
Then we used cottonbuds to add flowers, with stalks and leaves. We painted green caterpillars and red ladybirds.
Jade taught us to paint butterflies.
Finally, we put the real flowers inside the pots. Our Mums and Dads loved buying them at the fair!
Our Teddy Bears' Picnic
How does our class celebrate? With a teddy bears' picnic, of course! Terrific Ted ate all the sandwiches in the picnic basket, but left kiwifruit to share ...

St Pats Attack FM radio station is launched
August 24 2012 was a beautiful sunny day for the official opening of the radio station. Our senior students have been working hard with Mr Pettigrew to get everything ready.
We listened to speeches by our Mayor, Mr Ayers (right), our Acting Principal, Miss Dargan (left) and our School Chairperson, Mr McRandle (second left). Also helping to celebrate were Mr Cosgrove and Ms Wilkinson, our Members of Parliament. How exciting!
Then Mr Ayers and Ethan Evans revealed the radio station sign.
After lunch Mr Evans let all the children climb aboard his fire engine. What a great day!

We are busy bees with BeeBots Technology
Today we learned how instructions can program a robot. Mr Wynyard from Science Alive helped us, using BeeBots. We practised instructing the robots to go forwards, backwards and sideways. Then we made different pathways for others to use. We had to think very hard!
Here are the BeeBots looking happy to see us.
Isabelle is getting her BeeBot ready to move forwards. Each pace is 15 cm long.
Sarah has instructed her BeeBot to move sideways.
Max and Daniel are planning a pathway.
Andrew and Sarah program their BeeBot to move five steps forwards.
Emily's BeeBot is ready to start a maze.
We finish with a BeeBot race - why do they finish at the same time?
