5 t a day

We have been learning about growing healthy bodies by eating five or more fruits and vegetables every day.  We try to 'eat a rainbow' of foods! Counting our fruits from the day, then adding how many vegetables we need for tea, has been good for our maths too.

Old MacDonald

"Old MacDonald Had a Farm" is our shared book this week. We have shared reading and singing the words. Today we co-operated to make a shared wall story too!

Mrs Bidwell brought her R.E. students to see us. They had written and illustrated books about saints for our class to keep. How kind! We enjoyed hearing them read and share. Thank you!

What is a litre?

This week in Maths we are exploring volume and capacity.  Today we found out which containers hold a litre, which hold two litres and which hold 1/2.  We helped each other.

Today we were lucky to host educators Dan and Paula from Australia. They made us laugh! We drew, talked and wrote stories.

Busy Bodies

Thank you to Science Alive and to our parent helpers for exciting learning activities about our amazing, busy bodies! We added to our knowledge of the senses, skeleton and brain. Wow!

Mathsathon Fun!

We enjoy practising our Maths strategies in groups. Last week we timed how long we could practise without stopping - we got to 18 minutes and our goal was 15. Yay!

On Friday we dressed as animals and brought pet food for donating to the SPCA.  We learned how to take care of our pets.

We are learning to care and co-operate. Today we worked in groups to contribute parts for Rimu's All Together Painting. We were inspired by Jane Hissey's book!  

Our amazing ears

We are learning about our amazing bodies.  Studying our senses, this week our experiments have focused on sound: how sound waves travel, volume and pitch.

Celebrating The Arts

Yesterday we shared our learning in The Arts with the whole school. We have been working in groups studying dance, ukelele,visual art, fabric and fibre and wearable art.
