Advent begins
This is the first week of Advent, a word which means 'coming'. We are preparing for the birth of Jesus at Christmas time and inviting him to come and be born in our hearts:

Money super heroes
Amy from ASB bank visited us today. She was teaching us about coins, notes and being Captain Cash, a super hero! Ask us to say our money rhyme: "Speed to your needs and wait for your wants." It has actions, too.
Golf stars!
Yesterday, our sports coaches taught us how to hold a golf club and putt towards a target. It was great fun!

Didgeribone fun
We loved watching and hearing performance artist Tjupurru from Australia! He played the didjeribone, which is an instrument blending a didgeridoo with a trombone. Tjupurru used electronic sounds too and had us all clapping and moving!

When You Go Down to the Woods Today
When you go down to the woods today,
You'd better go in disguise.
When you go down to the woods today,
You're sure of a big surprise!
For every bear that ever there was
Has gathered there for certain because,
Today's the day
The teddy bears have -
Their picnic!

Reflections
Our Big Book led to lots of fun and experimenting with mirrors! We also found our reflections on spoons (which side showed them upside down?), in still water and on bubbles. What happened when you saw your reflection in lots of mirrors joined together?

We are marvelling at God's Creation with the growth of our beans from tiny seeds! We are miracles too!

Welcome Leo
This week we have welcomed Leo to our classroom and our school. What a wonderful start you have made, Leo!
Thank you firefighter family!
Thank you to Mr and Mrs Siegenthaler who organised for Rimu to learn more about the work of a firefighter. We really enjoyed learning about a firefighter's special clothing and trying some of it on! We think firefighters are very special helpers in our community.

Thank you Totara
Thank you to Miss O'Neill and Totara for the wonderful story books you made for us! We enjoyed having you read them to us on the last day of term and then give them as presents! Happy holidays to all and best wishes to Miss O'Neill.
Our Mufti Mania day raised money for the Solomon Islands schools to have books too.

Run, run
"Run, run as fast as you can.
You can't catch me,
I'm the Gingerbread Man!"
We loved the traditional tale of The Gingerbread Man, starting with baking! Over the week we used the story for maths, writing, reading, drama, poetry, song - and of course eating!
